At Hotel Tahití Playa, we believe that travelling and caring for the planet can go hand in hand. That’s why, for years, we have been working on a transformation that allows us to offer a unique seaside holiday experience that is also respectful of the environment. Our efforts have been recognised with the Biosphere certification, an international seal that acknowledges our commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability.
This certification is not just a symbol, but a way of understanding hotel management from a more conscious perspective. Every decision, every improvement and every investment is aimed at reducing our environmental impact and promoting a more responsible tourism model, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Less paper, more sustainability
One of the first steps towards greener management has been the replacement of paper documentation with digital formats. From reception to internal departments, digitalisation has significantly reduced paper use, saving thousands of printouts each year.
This measure not only helps preserve natural resources, but also allows us to streamline communication and enhance the guest experience. Now, all relevant hotel information is available on electronic devices — quickly, clearly and up to date.
Likewise, informational signage in dining areas has been fully digitalised. Buffet and restaurant menus no longer require periodic printing, which reduces waste and enables real-time updates.
Measuring and reducing our carbon footprint
Another key focus of our commitment is the measurement and reduction of the hotel’s carbon footprint. Through monitoring systems, we track energy consumption and associated emissions to make more efficient and sustainable decisions.
Among the most significant actions is the complete renewal of the air-conditioning system, featuring state-of-the-art equipment that reduces energy use and pollutant emissions. This investment represents an important step forward in our decarbonisation strategy.
We have also carried out technical improvements in the pool area to reduce leaks and minimise water consumption, a resource we consider essential in our Mediterranean environment. Every drop counts, and our mission is to use it responsibly without compromising guest comfort.
Small gestures, big changes
In terms of waste management, Hotel Tahití Playa has replaced individual amenities with recyclable and refillable containers — a simple yet highly impactful measure. This reduces the use of single-use plastics and encourages a more responsible consumption culture.
We have also introduced new recycling bins throughout the hotel, both in service areas and public spaces, to ensure proper waste separation and encourage reuse.
These actions, though small in appearance, reflect a broader philosophy: every decision matters when it comes to protecting the environment.
Technology serving the planet
Sustainability also relies on innovation. Thanks to digitalisation, check-in and check-out processes are now automated, reducing paper use and making procedures faster and more convenient for guests.
In addition, digital invoicing is now a reality for most of our guests and suppliers, eliminating paper use and contributing to a more efficient management model.
These improvements bring not only environmental benefits, but also enhance the guest experience: less waiting, more agility and a more connected stay.
In-house laundry and responsible control
Having an in-house laundry allows us to manage washing processes more efficiently, choose low-impact products, and optimise water and energy consumption. This ensures that the cleaning and care of bed linen and towels are carried out according to sustainable and high-quality standards.
This autonomy also enables us to respond quickly to the hotel’s daily needs, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards without relying on external providers.
A commitment that goes further
Obtaining the Biosphere certification does not mean we have reached our goal — rather, we continue moving forward on a path of continuous improvement. In the future, our aim is to expand our sustainability initiatives through environmental education projects, staff training, and collaboration with local suppliers who share our values.
We want every guest who stays with us to feel that, by choosing Hotel Tahití Playa, they are also contributing to protecting the planet. We firmly believe that sustainable tourism is possible when wellbeing, awareness and commitment come together.
Because enjoying the Mediterranean also means taking care of it.
